Counselling and psychotherapy

Psychotherapy plays a crucial role when needing to improve our health and wellbeing, as it allows us to talk freely about our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, supporting us to make a positive change in our future. Counselling therefore, is not a quick fix, it takes perseverance, patience and willingness to work with one another to overcome difficulties we may be feeling in our lives. Counselling offers a safe space, with no judgement where you can help explore who you are and go deep into your thoughts.

It is fundamental as a counsellor to understand and empathise with your client providing a safe environment, allowing you to explore your past and present. This lets you to nourish and identify wounds which may have been developed, enabling you to strive forward towards your future.

What is
client-centred therapy?

This approach emerged from the premise that we all have the ability to move towards a more fulfilling and satisfying way of being and living our lives. This is a non-authoritative approach, where the counsellor trusts you to take more of a lead in the discussion, and the pace of the session.

The key aim is to help you develop a greater understanding of yourself in an environment which allows you to resolve your own problems, through talking and discussing openly, without direct intervention by the therapist. The counsellor is merely a traveller on your journey, there to help guide and develop a greater sense of self-awareness.

Is counselling right
for you?

Most of us at some point in our lives will experience a sense of feeling overwhelmed or “not ourselves”. Whilst it is not easy to open up about certain areas of our lives, which can bring discomfort or distressing emotions, counselling offers the opportunity to express yourself to an experienced impartial listener – allowing for a different perspective, and helping to bring new insights and an alternative approach.
